VALLEJO'S 2ND ANNUAL DIA DE LOS MUERTOS (DAY OF THE DEAD) FESTIVAL 2014

So many lives have been lost to HIV/AIDS, this is not only a great way to bring the community together for a multi-cultural, artistic event, but also another chance to raise awareness in the fight against HIV/AIDS.
Vallejo's 2nd Annual Dia De Los Muertos Festival 2014 is being hosted by the Solano AIDS Coalition (SAC) on Saturday, Nov. 1, from 11 a.m.-7 p.m. This will be a DAY OF REMEMBERING loved ones who have passed away and are gone but not forgotten. We are encouraging the community to arrive to the march dressed in black attire with their faces painted like skeletons (face painting available throughout event). The first 200 people who show up ready for the march will get a FREE PRIZE! This CELEBRATION OF LIFE will include a march starting at the SAC Vintage Boutique at approximately 11:45 a.m. Participants will march together all the way to Vallejo's Farmers Market where they will construct an altar while the community watches. Marchers will then go on a self-guided tour of Vallejo's Downtown Art District before meeting back at the altar, then marching back to SAC Vintage Boutique, at approximately 2 p.m. Once marchers return, there will be a celebration from 2-7 p.m. on Central Avenue located just behind SAC Vintage Boutique. This "Block Party" style festival will include entertainment, food, games, education, dances, spoken word, art, celebrating the lives of those who have passed and much, much more!
The Solano AIDS Coalition is now recruiting volunteers, donations, artists, face painters, vendors, event sponsors and "Wish List" items. Anyone is welcome to attend our community planning meetings. These meetings are being held Mondays from 5:30-7 p.m. at SAC Vintage Boutique.
