Lara Price is a survivor. She grew up as an orphan in Vietnam, and discovered the power of music at 6 years old. She began singing a few years later, and continued her vocal studies operatically with Dr. Lynn Berg at BSU.

After arriving in Bay Area in 1997, she was soon running the JJ’s Blues jam in San Jose, and was featured in the September issue of The Blues Revue Magazine. Lara and her band have shared bills with R&B legends Etta James, James Brown, Buddy Guy, Leon Russell and many other artists. She currently fronts and leads several musical projects: Lara Unplugged, an acoustic duo; Velvet Plum, a popular top 40’s party band, Militia of Love, a Cali-Reggae band, The Lara Price Band, a rootsy rockin’ blues band and the Lara Price Blues Revue, a fantastic 10 piece R&B show band. Recently, Lara has been promoting her newest project, Girls Got the Blues—an all-star cast of female talent that have come together to make musical magic!

For this performance, Lara will be joined by Laura Chavez. Chavez is a killer guitar player who has been a regular at JJ's Blues in San Jose since she was 18.Chavez was one of three featured players at JJ's 2004 Guitar Extravaganza, and she can be heard on the album Faces of the Blues from the Lara Price Band.
