Mexico's National Emergency and the Role of The United StatesThe University of San Francisco welcomes Mexican poet, writer, and journalist Javier Sicilia.
Description of the event: Since the murder of his son by drug gang members last year, Sicilia has spoken out against the drug war and injustice in Mexico. His powerful work building a movement for peace has been widely recognized with numerous awards and a profile in Time Magazine's 2011 Person of the Year edition. Sicilia is the Founder of the Movement for Peace with Justice and Dignity in Mexico.
Ticket prices: FREE and open to the public.

Mr. Silicia will speak about Mexico’s crisis, the movement he leads, and plans for a protest caravan from San Diego to Washington, DC this August. The discussion will be in Spanish, with English interpretation provided.
