USF hosts 2012 Deans Lecture on Sustainability & Social JusticeWhat: A lecture and reception featuring activist and guest speaker Julian Agyeman showcasing ways in which university hopes to combine social justice and sustainability efforts in the future both within the USF community and around the Bay Area.
When: Thursday May 3, 2012 at 5:30 p.m.
Where: USF’s McClaren Conference Center on main campus. Located at 2130 Fulton St. San Francisco, CA 94117
Why: Julian Agyeman, Professor and Chair of Urban and Environmental Policy and Planning at Tufts University, will explore what a social justice oriented approach to sustainability in higher education looks like by introducing his concept of “just sustainabilities” that emphasizes “the need to ensure a better quality of life for all, now and into the future, in a just and equitable manner, whilst living within the limits of supporting ecosystems”
