The Manovill Conversations
Reporting Israel: the Personal, the Political and the Press

Presented by Haaretz and JCCSF

How is the current state of investigative journalism—in Israel and here at home—affecting civil liberties and democracy? Haaretz’s Uri Blau is best known for the Anat Kamm affair, in which he wrote about an unlawful targeted military assassination and was indicted and convicted for possession of classified documents under the espionage act. His source, Anat Kamm, was arrested and sentenced to 4.5 years in prison for espionage. Barton Gellman is a Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist (Washington Post, TIME) who broke the story about the PRISM surveillance program based on the leaks provided by NSA contractor Edward Snowden.
