Description
In the current western environment, death is viewed primarily as an ending. In Buddhist and shamanic traditions, it is viewed as a transition from one state of being into another. This class helps participants explore new ways of approaching a subject that is largely taboo and for which people are poorly prepared when they encounter it.This workshop helps participants gain a deeper understanding of death and dying. Participants will explore death as perceived by practitioners in a variety of shamanic traditions and examine the foundational practices that Buddhists undertake in order to navigate death and the dying process. Drawing from these understandings, students will learn traditional methods for maintaining an optimal environment for the process of dying and methods for healing relationships that appear to have been interrupted by death.
