A field technician supervisor for JCDecaux - Street Furniture, performs a verification test after cleaning and maintenance of the brand spanking new Plaza Park pay-toilet.

The toilet, or "street furniture," is controlled by a computer which is, in turn, controlled by a "master" computer in San Francisco. If the toilet malfunctions or is tampered with, the information is transmitted to the computer in San Francisco, and a squad of JCDecaux technicians are dispatched in their Chevrolet maintenance-vans to the client-toilet.

A digital display on the toilet informs a prospective end-user of the status of the toilet. When I walked by here earlier in the day, the display read, "Temporarily Out Of Service."
