Two-day Songwriting Workshop with Jason Blume

The San Francisco Chapter of the Nashville Songwriters Association International (NSAI) will present a two-day songwriting workshop with hit songwriter/publisher/best-selling author Jason Blume at the Musician’s Union on November 3rd and 4th.

With songs on albums that have sold more than 50 million copies and appeared on every major Billboard chart—at the same time—Jason Blume is one of the world's most successful songwriters and respected songwriting teachers. His songs have been recorded by diverse artists including Britney Spears, the Oak Ridge Boys, the Backstreet Boys, Gipsy Kings, and country stars Collin Raye (6 recordings) and John Berry, and have been in films and on top TV shows such as “Scrubs” and “Friday Night Lights.”

Blume, owner of the Moondream Music Publishing Group, states, “Songwriting success is not just based on luck or magic. There are reasons why some melodies and lyrics touch people’s hearts and stick in their brains. Teaching is my passion, and my goal is to help writers to communicate what’s in their hearts in a way that’s appropriate for the radio. You also have to take care of business; you can write the greatest song – but if the right people don’t hear it, it won’t be a hit. Five of my students have had #1 singles but even if you never have a hit on the radio, writing songs is a great hobby and a wonderful way to express yourself.”

Workshop topics will include: Writing lyrics that express what’s in your heart;
Composing memorable melodies (even if you don’t play an instrument);
Producing successful demos; Getting your songs published and recorded; Carving out time for your creativity; and Constructive critiques of selected participants’ songs.
