For those not in the know, Tune-Yards, or commonly referred to as tUnE-yArDs, is the music project of New England native Merrill Garbus. What separates tUnE-yArDs from other current music acts is her sheer audacity in blending different musical genres into a weirdly satisfying mix. Her style incorporates elements of Lo-fi, R&B, experimental, Wonky pop, Afro-beat and more. However, most fans of hers will tell you that the tUnE-yArDs need to be seen to be believed as Merrill Garbus creates drum loops on the spot and layers them with ukulele, voice, and electric bass.
