Join journalist Tracie McMillan to discuss her work for The American Way of Eating, which chronicles her experience in three undercover jobs across the American food system: California farmworker, produce clerk in a Detroit-area Walmart, New York City Applebee's kitchen wretch. Weaving policy and agricultural economics into personal narrative, McMillan explores what it would cost to grow food fairly.Tracie McMillan, a freelance journalist whose work centers on food and class, is a Senior Fellow at the Schuster Institute for Investigative Journalism at Brandeis University. Her first book, The American Way of Eating: Undercover at Walmart, Applebee’s, Farm Fields and the Dinner Table, will be published by Scribner in February 2012. Learn more on her website.
