Even after nearly five years, Tormenta Tropical is pretty unique party, a place where various strains of cumbia, Latin, and tropical music intersect with hip-hop, dancehall, and various flavors of electronic music. It's an odd formula, but it works, which is why we're a bit surprised that only a few like-minded parties have sprouted up over the years. One such party is Austin's PELIGROSA, and we're thrilled to have two of its residents coming to town for a Texas vs. Cali soundclash.Honestly, if you've been to Austin, you know ORION. The man is a hustler, and has been more or less running the game for several years now. Looking to see the latest rad producer or hot sound? Orion is man who brings in to Austin, and the crown jewel of his mini-empire is Peligrosa, a monthly celebration of Latin music old and new, sometimes VERY new. Orion is also a skilled producer in his own right, frequently turning out cool edits of cumbia, salsa, hip-hop, and more.
As for KING LOUIE, the man is a great DJ, but he's also the spark that ignites just about any PELIGROSA party. He's like the official fun ambassador, hyping people up on the mic, mingling with the crowd, and building a serious vibe. His DJ sets are similarly fun, which is why we can wait to hear the jams he drops on the Tormenta dancefloor.
Of course, residents ORO11 and SHAWN REYNALDO will also be in the house with their usual assortment of cumbia bombs and tropical jams. There's going to be a lot of fire on the dancefloor on this night - don't miss it.
