UPDATE: Due to a family emergency, Bonde Do Role has cancelled its US tour dates and will not be at Tormenta Tropical this Saturday. We will work to get them back at Tormenta Tropical soon. However, the party is still happening this Saturday night.Tormenta Tropical is rapidly approaching its 5th birthday, which means that just about every tropical- or Latin-inspired artist of note has come through and spun a set or performed live for us at some point. Well, ALMOST every artist. One major exception is Brazil's BONDE DO ROLE, the Mad Decent-affiliated crew which has been turning out playful takes on baile funk, hip-hop, and electronic pop for several years now. Bonde Do Role is one of those groups that we've always wanted to come through and play, and we're happy to report that the wait is finally coming to an end.
That's right, the party-starting outfit is going to be performing LIVE at Tormenta Tropical, undoubtedly hyping up the crowd with their irreverent tunes. However, they won't be alone. We've also got LA jack-all-of-trades BUTCHY FUEGO coming up to make his SF Tormenta debut. You may know Butchy from his work drumming with the Boredoms, or maybe you've heard his recent solo output as San Gabriel. The guy has also played with and help produce countless bands, so chances are, you've heard his work, whether you know it or not.
Rounding out the bill is San Francisco's DJ THEORY, whose unique dancehall flips and other tropical explorations having been finding their way into our DJ sets for awhile now. He'll be helping to warm up the floor along with Tormenta Tropical resident ORO11, who will be holding it down for Bersa Discos since his partner-in-crime SHAWN REYNALDO will be out of town.
Tormenta Tropical has had a lot of big nights, and we're pretty certain that this will be another one. Don't miss it.
