Safeword is the result of a decade-long friendship and a mutual love for music between San Francisco's Clint Stewart and Marc Smith. The duo has worked side by side on music for years, so the eventual pairing was inevitable. Although the two share a great deal of the same musical interests, its the differences that make it. Both Stewart and Smith bring an individual perspective to the studio, creating an incredibly diverse dynamic ranging from deep lush house to the heavier side of techno and all things in between. With their foundation laid in thick, heavy drums, lush melodies and hypnotic atmospherics, Safewords every cut, as well as their DJ and live set, is a pulsating, cerebral campaign, track-by-track leaving indelible marks on its listeners. Its the delicate interplay of pleasurable highs and dynamic lows that set this pair into their own realm of creation. With an EP on Dessous recieving high praises, a single on the Poker Flat 'Gunslingers and Greenhorns' VA as well as their double remix of Pan-Pot on Mobilee and the second EP on Alland Byallo's much anticipated new label, Bad Animal, the duo are primed to start their assault on dancefloors worldwide. Bells & Whistles is the musical collaboration between Zack Yakovlev and Yanick Weitlisbach. Djing separately around San Diego where they both grew up, it was not until they met up in San Francisco that they started working together. Shortly after joining forces and taking on the moniker “Bells & Whistles”, the two started their first monthly party on the 21st floor of the Sir Francis Drake Hotel. With shimmering chandeliers, a breath taking view of the entire city, and a service staff dressed in tuxedos and bow-ties, DRESSCODE offered a new home to a sound often kept underground. Bringing in artists like Bruno Pronsato, Claude Vonstroke, Catz N’ Dogz, Alland Byallo, Justin Martin, Franklin De Costa, Tim Green, Maetrik, Jan Krueger, J. Phlip, Soul Clap, and Mikael Stravostrand to name a few; DRESSCODE quickly became an established and respected party in San Francisco. While Djing will always be at the heart of Bells and Whistles, it is music creation, not performance, that has been taking much of their recent time. Being able to create the sound they share is the main focus for the young duo.

Emanate aka Nathan Vain & Emily Fox fell in love with the mystique of electronic music. Nathan Vain knew right away what his future held when he acquired his first turntables at the age of 17. Emily Fox took a different route starting her journey in the scene as a promoter and landing Nathan his first residency at a popular after hours spot back in 2001.
A few years down the road and a desire for success growing strong they moved to San Francisco together and started producing music as Emanate in 2003. From House, Breaks to Downtempo they’ve established and developed their skills experimenting with influential song styles and formats but have never strayed far from their roots with deeper Techno and Tech House music. Nathan enhanced his knowledge of the industry working at DanceRecords from 2004 – 2009 with a stint interning at the Mothership/ Dirtybird offices. Emily developed her understanding of the Electronic music culture by throwing various parties throughout San Francisco over the years.
Following the path of natural evolution and with various label influences such as Bedrock and Cocoon, they started up their own label, Mioli Music. Since 2010 they’ve released music as Emanate and individually as well as have signed various International artists on Mioli (Move It Or Lose It). Today Emanate is primarily involved in Techo & Tech House music. With their DJ sets you can expect a clever blend and balance of deep and edgy music.

The syngery between these two on stage is palpable. Meandering through deep house, deep tech, and quirky beats, this 1x1 tag is not to miss.
