Description

Seminal indie rock band Throwing Muses is back with its first release in over a decade. Purgatory Paradise is a whopping 32-track album, plus a 64-page book. Founded by Kristin Hersh and Tanya Donelly (The Breeders, Belly), the band’s singular sound merges elliptical post-punk, harmonious folk jangle and rockabilly thunder. Highly influential to artists such as Cat Power, Kurt Cobain, the White Stripes, Sleater-Kinney and riot grrrls everywhere, Throwing Muses is one of the most important bands of the post-punk era.

"Purgatory/Paradise really is unlike anything I’ve heard this year"
– Pitchfork
