Description
The San Jose Multicultural Artists Guild and the Tabia African-American Theatre present "Through the Eyes of Mary McLeod Bethune," a play written by Sharon Moore and directed by Viera Whye. This unique production vividly portrays the historic progress of Blacks from slavery to freedom, centering on Mary McLeod Bethune, the pioneer educator, government official, and founder of Bethune-Cookman College. Also depicted in the play are contributions made by famous black leaders Sojourner Truth, Fredrick Douglass, Langston Hughes, Martin Luther King, Ida B. Wells, Harriett Tubman, and Billie Holiday. Entertaining and informative, everyone is encouraged to come and celebrate Black History.
