Description
These 18 sonatas are entirely original compositions. Composing them was a project that occupied me during the late '90's and early years of this century. I was inspired by the Italian harpsichord composer Domenico Scarlatti's sonatas, whose 550 examples of keyboard inventiveness, virtuosity and perennial freshness are one of the treasures of our pianistic repertoire. Capturing my improvisations and translating them into the binary form favored by Scarlatti was a delightful discipline: learning them for my 2005 recording challenged my technique and my pianism. I'm pleased to be presenting them live and sharing their many moods and colors that continue to surprise and delight me.More Info
