Description

Local artists Joel Heinrich, playwright/director, and Hunter Noack, concert pianist/composer, meld drama with a live music score in their January 2012 play, The Sister. Set in four different rooms at the Bay Gallery in SOMArts Cultural Center, the audience is invited to not only watch the action but to physically follow the drama from set to set. At the same time, the story is both grounded and enlarged by live music performed at the pivotal center of the four rooms, visible at all times.

The Sister is an adult fairy tale which explores isolation, oppression, and racism through experiential/experimental theater giving the audience a physical and emotional experience. Alice's ghost brother Pugna serves as a link to the audience, as he says to them "I don’t exist, in the same way you don’t exist. I don’t mean anything in the same way, you don’t mean anything."
