The Sippy Cups are corrupting our children. And by “corrupting,” of course, I mean making their lives awesome and giving them the musical education that public school never will. They’re among the best of a recent wave of bands that play rock music for tots. They dig into the cool stuff—most of us had to wait until high school, at least, to discover the Velvet Underground. But the Sippy Cups kid the rock canon up pretty adorably—the Ramones’ “I Wanna Be Sedated” becomes “I Wanna Be Eleated,” for instance. And they play original songs, as well. Their shows are brightly colored kidtopias packed with swaying wee ones and parents happy to have a concert they can take their child to and enjoy themselves.
