Special Guest DJ on Saturday, January 28th will be master drummer, songwriter, and New Orleans funklegend Ziggy Modeliste, who will spin his favorite grooves at Roots and Rhythm including tracks from his recent CD release, New LIfe. As the highly influential drummer for The Meters and current leader of several of his own groups, Ziggy's original funk style and rhythmic innovations have earned him respect worldwide as a musician's musician and have inspired numerous hip-hop tracks. He has been sampled by artists like Public Enemy, The Beastie Boys, A Tribe Called Quest, Run DMC, and NWA, and is currently featured in producer Mark Ronson's Re: Generation Project where he performs the original song "A La Modeliste" with Erykah Badu, Mos Def, Trombone Shorty, and members of The Dap Kings.
