"Each painting is trying to create a location, a place for me and viewers to reside in. I am interested in the energy that the space evokes, whether it is real...physical...or metaphysical. My paintings are ritual objects, each mark and every color used is part of a ritual to create a location for the spirit to dwell. It is not a specific location in this word, but rather inspired by energies and spaces that have been traversed. They are portals...escape hatches...into another reality-somewhere to go and experience something other."Join us on Friday, July 18th from 6-10 pm for "The Poetics of Light" Artist Reception featuring the work of Daria Gabriel. Big Umbrella Studios will also have live music, appetizers and beverages to celebrate the Grand Re-Opening of our space.
