The Pine Box Boys
The Pine Box Boys formed in San Francisco in 2003 to perform modern renditions of classic murder ballads such as "The Knoxville Girl" and "Fair Eleanor." Shortly after Lester Raww, "Possum Carvidi, Col. Timothy Leather and Steven "Your Uncle" Dodds started the Pine Box Boys. Raww transitioned the music to all original songs paying the same grim homage to themes of murder, misery, zombies and generally unapologetic acts of mayhem.
After 125 songs penned in Raww's blood and four albums later, the original members tour across the United States and Europe bringing their cantankerous horrorbilly sound and malcontent melodies to worldwide fans eager for some dancing, drinking and stabbing. Albums include "Arkansas Killing Time," "STAB!," "Child of Calamity" and "Tales From the Emancipated Head.
The Good Luck Thrift Store Outfit
Take two Americana singer-songwriters, an indie-rock veteran of a drummer, country-born bassist, and metal-bred pedal steel player, and what do you get: the rough-hewn yet driftwood-smooth; rebel-headed, but heart-of-gold sound of The Good Luck Thrift Store Outfit. The outfit includes singer-songwriters Willy Taylor and Chris Doud, drummer Aaron Burtch, Taylor Webster Bass and vocals, master of a...ll lead instruments Matt Cordano, and newest member Chandler Pratt on Mandolin/Guitar. Any Outfit member may tell you that it’s plenty just to be at the pinnacle of a local music scene embracing roots and Americana music, but, as one recent convert put it, “the rest of America needs to hear this noise.”
