The legendary Grammy-award winner and six-time Grammy nominee, Peter Rowan brings The Peter Rowan Bluegrass Band for a very special evening of bluegrass presented by the Kanbar Center of the Performing Arts at the Osher Marin JCC, ready to thrill audience with original and traditional songs executed in vibrant harmony. The evening opens with North Bay locals "The Pine Needles"
The Peter Rowan Bluegrass Band, consisting of the legendary Grammy-award winner and six-time Grammy nominee, Peter Rowan and his band of outstanding musicians that cover over 100 years of combined recording and performance experience.
The Peter Rowan Bluegrass Band has graced the stages of Hardly Strictly, Grey Fox, Merlefest, and so many more festivals domestic and abroad, entertaining audiences with original and traditional songs executed in vibrant harmony. Their 2010 debut album ”Legacy” received a Grammy nomination. Local band, The Pine Needles will open with their blend of acoustic stringed instruments and drums with jazz, rock, and Northern Calif. jamband sensibilities.
In September 2010, the Peter Rowan Bluegrass Band released their debut album for Nashville’s Compass Records- Legacy; the new album, featuring traditional and original compositions, was produced by Compass owner/recording artist Alison Brown and includes Ricky Skaggs, Gillian Welch, David Rawlings and Del McCoury and received a Grammy nomination in 2010.
Peter Rowan is a bluegrass singer-songwriter with a career spanning over five decades. From his early years playing under the tutelage of bluegrass patriarch Bill Monroe, Peter’s stint in Old & In the Way with David Grisman and Jerry Garcia and his subsequent breakout as both a solo performer and bandleader, Rowan has built a devoted, international fan base through his continuous stream of original recordings, collaborative projects, and constant touring.

of the “The Witcher Brothers” has recorded or toured with Dwight Yoakam, Fernando Ortega, Laurie Lewis, Tyler Hilton, John Paul Jones, Sara Watkins, The Gibson Brothers, Dolly Parton, Joan Osborn, Willie Wat¬son (Old Crow Medicine Show), and Chris Jones among others. Known for his rich tone and lyrical phrasing, Michael is also a highly sought after instructor.
The evening opens with The Pine Needles blend acoustic stringed instruments and drums with jazz, rock, world, bluegrass, classical, and northern California jamband sensibilities. In their seventh exciting year of adventures in this unique brand of nor cal acoustic eclectic, the players include Josh Needleman, Rami Ziadeh, Tristan Arnold, and David Boyden
