Who are The B.A.D. Girls?
The B.ay A.rea D.erby Girls (B.A.D. Girls) paved the way as the first all female, full-contact, flat track roller derby league in the San Francisco Bay Area. B.A.D. was established in 2004 by a handful of like-minded women who loved to skate and longed to bring the sport of flat track roller derby to the Bay Area. We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation managed by passionate, dedicated, and competitive women committed to helping other grassroots organizations in the Bay Area.
B.A.D. is comprised of 100+ full-time league members/volunteers and continue to grow by the season. Our league consists of four teams: San Francisco ShEvil Dead, Oakland Outlaws, Richmond Wrecking Belles, and B.A.D. All-Stars. As members of the Women's Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA), we participate as a Division 1 league in multiple tournaments and intra-league bouts. Our All-Star Team is currently ranked 1st in California, 6th in the West Coast and 14th in the Nation.
As the league continues its sixth season, the B.A.D. Girls are pursuing several significant goals, among them: securing a permanent venue for practices and expanding our charitable programs such as the Skater Tots (athletic activities for low-income children).
