The Lit Slam is a live audience-curated poetry phenomenon where the Editors of a lit journal (to be published on 11/19 by Bicycle Comics) are randomly selected from the crowd & decide the fate of 8 competing poets. We offer a truly unique prize: A publishing deal.10/15 is the final show of The Lit Slam's uncannily fantastic debut Open Season. We're topping off our season with a melodic, thoughtful powerhouse of a writer from Chicago: none other than Miss Jamila Woods. We convinced her to visit the Bay again after her long summer tour, and we're sure you'll want her to move here once you hear her poems. She knows how to deliver a sucker punch with negative space imagery, and her delivery is eat-your-own-heart sweet. Jamila's got the good hurt, and you're definitely gonna want some of it.
