The Hundred Days

The video for "Girl At a Party", directed by David Dutton, is a raucous, fun-filled romp through a gigantic bash with a gorgeous lady as your guide. Magnetic Magazine exclusively premiered the video for the month of August. Really? is the latest project from the production team of Michael Patterson (Beck, Ladytron, She Wants Revenge) and Nic Jodoin(GreatNorthern). With driving rhythms, soaring guitars, textural keyboards and powerful vocal melodies, The Hundred Days push indie/alt rock in new directions. Drawing from a variety of influences (postpunk, alternative, britpop), the band's familiar, yet intrinsically unique sound has been compared to The Cure, Echo and the Bunnymen, and Radiohead as well as contemporary rockers Franz Ferdinand, The Bravery and The Killers. A moody, dynamic indie rock band, The Hundred Days showcase tight musicianship complemented by razor-sharp pop writing capabilities with both sophistication and urgency.
Fake Your Own Death
You don't have to die to start your life all over again, but you might have to pretend to. The members of Fake Your Own Death, a San Francisco band, are constantly reinventing their sound, their vision and the Mission District art scene that they call home. Starting over again seems to be the mantra in the band's upcoming release scheduled for early 2012. The music sounds fresh, vital and earnest while at the same time, vintage and honest. Lead singer, Terry Ashkinos (formerly of SF indie sensation Elephone), built this band around a belief that there are still genuine questions to be explored in art and rock 'n roll and he surrounded himself with musicians and artists from the SF scene. Together they create passionate, emotional music with explosive live shows. Working with an in-house producer, Sean Beresford, FYOD has created a collection of dramatic songs of dissatisfaction and simple bliss. Described as literary, brutal and infectious, FYOD has been compared to bands like The National, Echo and the Bunnymen, The Arcade Fire, Sonic Youth and Interpol by both local and national press. The band is staples on Bagel Radio, Mutiny Radio, Soma FM, Radio Valencia and KUSF. FYOD has played several sold out shows as main support for Hockey, The Warlocks, You Say Party We Say Die, Admiral Radley at the Noise Pop Festival, Film School, White Denim as well as The Trail of the Dead at SXSW. Fake Your Own Death is comprised of Terry Ashkinos on vocals and guitar, August Churchill on guitar, Dan Francisco on drums, Joey Fredrick on bass and Meredith Weems on keys.
Tremor Low
Tremor Low is a four-piece band hailing from Oakland, California that creates insistent, brooding post-punk/new-wave music. The group has spent the last 3 years honing their sound and begins 2012 with the release of a new 5 song EP entitled "Kingmaker" recorded with engineer/producer Jamie Hill (Jens Lekman, Nada Surf). An unsubtle recording, each song is delivered in the most urgent fashion, swooning through stories of loss and lust, vengeance and greed. "Kingmaker" is the ultimate expression of what Tremor Low is: a state of frenzy that demands to be heard. Tremor Low brings their live experience to crowds throughout the San Francisco Bay Area, delivering a dense swell of synthesizers, iconic vocals and airtight rhythm. In 2012 the band will tour in support of "Kingmaker" hitting the road and inspiring new generations of misanthropes everywhere.
The blank tapes
The Blank Tapes are lead by one Matt Adams, and backed by a rotating cast of amazing local players that bring his songs new life both on on and off the stage. The sound is marked by groovy, syncopated rhythms that range from a modern take on the sixties San Francisco sound to solid rock and roll pop with memorable hooks, riffs, and danceable beats. The band's energy onstage is both uplifting and hypnotic as their sound is at once both their own and utterly familiar, providing a nostalgia for original songs you have just been introduced to.
