Description
Originating as a street band, bringing the klezmer to peace marches, freedom rallies & street parties, the gonifs klezmer band plays traditional Jewish folk music with a twist. The core band attracts dazzling guest players like Stu Brotman, Josh Horowitz, and Cookie Segelstein, who join founding member Jeanette Lewicki to perform dance music and Yiddish songs about love, justice, sex and potatoes.The 2014 Yerba Buena Gardens Festival at Yerba Buena Gardens in downtown San Francisco runs May 4 through October 26, 2014 and presents over 90 free events including music, theater, circus, dance, poetry, festivals and children’s programs with artists from Africa, Japan, Mexico, Cuba, Brazil, the Philippines, Sweden, China, Venezuela and the Bay Area. This year’s Festival features events at Jessie Square with poetry, dance workshops and salsa dancing. Yerba Buena Gardens is located between Mission Street and Howard Street and 3rd and 4th Streets in downtown San Francisco.
