Description

It should be noted that the cover of the Exquisites's self-titled 2013 full-length (released on Asian Man Records) is a piercing close-up of a creepy cat's face. This actually isn't a very good indication of the Seattle band's music, as the Exquisites are neither goofy nor weird. They are one of the most sincere emo-pop-punk bands out right now. If anything the cover serves to lighten the heaviness of singer Jason Clackley's earnest lyrics and heart-on-the-sleeve singing. The band toured recently with Joyce Manor, who are a perfect fit as tour mates. They have a similar sound, though Clackley has a deeper, more gut-wrenching vocal delivery than Joyce Manor's Barry Johnson, and even a little soul. (Aaron Carnes)
