Description

Color may be the most subjective and most elusive element in painting. With that in mind, this course defines the role color plays in painting from description, to visual structure, to sensory and emotive qualities. We identify the individual painter's response to color and the development of a personal palette. We will explore the effect value and saturation and paint application have on the nuance of hue relationships and, most importantly, the emotional tension color manifests for the individual painter, and how to express that quality forcefully as a part of the process of painting.

4 Sessions/Meets Tuesdays: July 10th, 17th, 24th and 31st
