Description
Description :The control plan and Failure Mode Effects Analysis (FMEA) are both parts of Advanced Quality Planning (AQP). The control plan is, in fact, a deliverable from FMEA, and both tools' organizations by critical to quality (CTQ) characteristic and potential failure modes suggest their combination into a single entity, the dynamic control plan (DCP).
AQP also includes quality function deployment (QFD, House of Quality) which translates the voice of the customer into product or service characteristics, and also their relative importance. This, in turn, influences the content of FMEA or the DCP. A key takeaway is that QFD, FMEA, and the control plan are emphatically not stand-alone activities, but rather synergistic processes with inputs and outputs to one another. They also are continuous improvement rather than once-and-done activities.
