Mosaic presents an evening of ecstatic poetry and sacred music featuring the mystical poetry of Rumi and Hafiz with haunting music from the Middle East.Mythologist and storyteller Michael Meade will weave ecstatic poetry with ancient “wisdom tales,” while The Qadim Ensemble offers devotional music that celebrates the rich spiritual heritage found in traditional Arabic, Jewish, Turkish Sufi, Greek, and Moroccan music.
Michael Meade is a renowned storyteller, author, and mythologist whose hypnotic storytelling and spellbinding interpretations of ancient myths are highly relevant to current issues. In this unique event he combines his cogent commentary with an array of mystical poems and tales that float upon traditional, devotional tunes from the Middle East.
Qadim’s latest CD, Eastern Wind, debuted at #7 on the Billboard World Music Charts, and has received glowing praise including a review on NPR’s All Things Considered.
