Back in the early 2000s, The Darkness stormed U.S. airwaves with the unapologetically decadent single, "I Believe in a Thing Called Love," from their grandiosely titled "One Way Ticket to Hell…and Back." They may have only had one hit in America, but with their unabashed guitar heroics, arena-ready riffs and dog whistle-soprano lead vocals the U.K. outfit helped give the platform soul boot to all of those obnoxious post-grunge balladeers that had been ruling the alt-rock airwaves--paving the way for the true spirit of rock & roll to return to the FM dial.
