Description
Los Altos Stage Company embraces its role as the quintessentialAmerican playhouse by bringing a central work of the American canon to
life: Arthur Miller's The Crucible.
Winner of the 1953 Tony Award for Best Play, Miller originally wrote The
Crucible as an allegory for McCarthyism, cloaked in the story of four
young girls who bring a 17th Century Massachusetts hamlet to its knees.
Despite its classical setting, The Crucible has proved timeless, being
adapted for film, television, and even opera. The play received its most
recent Broadway revival in 2016, and now more than ever The Crucible
reminds us that while the targets may change, hysteria, fear-mongering,
and scare tactics will always pose a threat to American civility and
liberty.
