Description
The Cradle Project is a dynamic and multifaceted traveling art exhibition that engages local artists in a global discussion about the HIV and AIDS crisis in sub-Saharan Africa. The exhibition will be on view for the first time in San Francisco at the Alter Space gallery in the city’s SOMA district from April 17th- May 24th, 2014 with a public opening on April 26th from 7-10pm. Daily hours are Wednesday - Sunday, 12-6PM.The Cradle Project is a collaboration between participating contemporary artists and Firelight Foundation with a conceptual focus on the form of an empty cradle, a symbol that is meant to engage audiences on a visceral level about what it means when poverty and AIDS rob communities of their most valuable resource: children.
San Francisco’s exhibition brings together the work of 21 Bay Area-based artists alongside selections from previous exhibitions to show over 50 compelling works of art in an intimate gallery setting.
