Description
Remember back in the '80s when hip hop was still taking off and there were so many fresh new styles emerging? Were you in San Francisco when Psycho City, notoriously known for its' always changing walls, was the place to go to check out the hottest, young, up and coming street artists? This innovative time is referred to as Bay Area's Golden Age of Graffiti. Now, 30 years later, it's time to get back to the Classics and understand where this urban culture took root...1:AM gallery is proud to present The Classics, a defining art exhibit featuring works by the true Bay Area graffiti art pioneers. Curator Nate1, owner of New Skool clothing line and an expert on all things graffiti, has brought together, after many years, the artists that put San Francisco on the graffiti map. They are the ones that defined Bay Area style and still heavily influence art, media, and businesses to this day. There will be original and vintage art by Bay Area legends: Crayone, Estria, Vogue, Bam, Nate1, Jim Prigoff, Spie, Twick, Dizney and many more.
The opening reception of The Classics at 1:AM gallery is on Friday, September 10th, 2010 from 7-10pm. The opening will be a 21+ event with Dizzy from SF Zulu Nation, DJ Lars, Deandroid, Chris the Rebel, MykeOne from AlmightyDJs and Cuba on the wheels of steel and the 1:AM bartenders serving up the drinks. The exhibit will be on display through October 16th, 2010.
And now, it’s time to get back to The Classics…
