Description
Three oil painters elicit the virtuosity of the Old Masters as contemporary female artists: the luscious materiality (paint as wax, flesh, raw, rot) integral to form and the seductive capacities of decadence (in love, religion and the arts) as a conceptual underpinning. We re/present our image-saturated, bulimic visual culture with the possibility of retention of meaning and pleasure in the experience of its consumption.-----
The lack of light, the hollow sea, poison beaches, limousines, toothless dentists, cops that kill… my baby’s got the lonesome lows don’t quite go away overnight…if the dizzying highs don’t subside overnight…
