Description
The exhibit features an overview of the origins Freemasonry throughout the world, with an emphasis on its practice in California. Artifacts include masonic tracingboards, jewels, metalworks, gavels, vintage aprons, photographs and art. One item of note is Davy Crockett's masonic apron, which was inherited by the museum from a descendant of Crockett.The museum is located on the second floor of the Nob Hill Masonic Auditorium and also features a library containing several thousand titles relating to Freemasonry and attendant subjects. The books within the library are only used as reference and cannot be checked out by the general public.
Admission is free, but donations are accepted. Private day-time tours may be obtained by calling Adam Kendall, Curator of Collections at: 415-292-9137. Please call at least a week in advance. Weekend visits are negotiable and subject to the availability of the curator.
