Since no one will throw me a damn birthday party, I'll do it my freakin' self...and I'll show you! I’ll throw the best damn birthday bash ever! And if anyone asks, I'll be turning 30.

Where in the hell has this band been hiding? When I first listened to the tracks "Carolina" and "Murder Ballad" it was like listening to the alt-country I remember in the early '90s - when the genre first exploded. And then the 4th and 5th times I listened to those exact same tracks, like I did so many times to my favorite alt-country records, it was like being in my 20s all over again. MISISIPI MIKE (SF)
When I first moved to SF some 16 years ago, I looked around town for some genuine hillbilly music, like the music I grew up listening to in The Ozark Mountains of Missouri, and one night I stumbled upon "Hillbilly Hayride" a monthly series at the Make-Out Room hosted by the one and only Misisipi Mike. Mike will never admit it, but he's a hero for SF Bay Area urban hillbilly music and the hardest workin’ man on the local music scene.
