Description
Pawaan Kothari, proprietor of San Francisco’s well-known Chai Cart, shows you that the best cup of chai is the one you make. Kothari has been redefining the chai experience since 2009 when she gave up a lucrative career as a marketing strategist at a high tech firm to share the authentic tastes of Indian chai with the Bay Area. This class provides a deeper understanding of chai - its history and cultural roots, methods of preparation, and how to choose its main components: tea, spices, milk. You will also learn more about what constitutes chatt, Indian street food, as you enjoy a sampling of Kothari’s signature Masala Chai, Rose Chai and a variety of street snacks.
You’ll leave with a sample of a loose leaf blend to experiment at home, a shopping list to recreate the chai time experience, and a new appreciation for the wholesome goodness of chai that’s enjoyed across India everyday.
