Join the American expatriate crowd and our Parisian friends for a dance party at a swinging Parisian nightclub with vintage ballroom dance music by the divine Baguette Quartette. Talk modern art, literature, music, dance, film and social change while waltzing the night away to the most exquisite Bal Musette music in the City of Light. Expected guests could include just about anyone from Scott and Zelda, Hemingway, and gracious Edith Wharton (congratulations on that Pulitzer Prize for "Age of Innocence," darling!) to Colette, Picasso, and perhaps even the ravishing Josephine Baker. Whether you're a member of the Lost Generation or one of their critics or just a tourist out slumming, you'll enjoy this lively evening in the world of Paris at Midnight.

After a vintage ballroom dance lesson at 7pm, the Baguette Quartette plays elegant and exhilarating waltzes, tangos, one steps, fox trots, polkas, javas (club version of the mazurka waltz), and even some French country dances (set dance will be briefly taught and called). And the Quartette's very French version of "The Congress of Vienna Waltz" is divine indeed!

At intermission, we'll listen and dance to the swinging recorded music of Cole Porter and other popular artists of the Jazz Age.

Costumes from 1920-1930, or vintage or modern evening dress is admired but not required. Avant-garde artists, writers, Show People, Apaches, working class Parisians, and even slumming upper class types are all welcome, but, as always at PEERS, period costumes are not required.

Will there be a bar? But of course! There will also be a light, French-American snack buffet (Your potluck contributions would be most welcome!).
