WHAT: The 13th Annual Edwardian Ball & World’s Faire presents “The Doubtful Guest”

Paradox Media and Vau de Vire present the 13th annual award-winning Edwardian Ball and World’s Faire at the beautiful historic Regency Ballroom in San Francisco on January 18th & 19th. People fly from all over the world to attend this elegant and whimsical extravaganza of costumery, carnival, music, acrobatics, ballroom dancing, theater, circus, parlour games, steam machinery, aerial performances, obscure artifacts, period technology and elaborate fashion shows; an outrageous celebration of an unforgettable era while honoring Edward Gorey, the prolific master of ominous storytelling. This year the Edwardian Ball founders Rosin Coven and co-hosts Vau de Vire Society feature one of Edward Gorey's more mischievous, playful masterpieces, “The Doubtful Guest” – a performance interspersed with humor and darkness. Attendees can also visit the acclaimed “Museum of Wonders – an Edwardian Odditorium,” the Vendor Bazaar & Piano Saloon is open both nights plus Jan 19, 12-5pm for daytime shopping. Experience a complete circus extravaganza by The Wanderlust Circus Orchestra. It’s where literary fans are as welcome as Goth clubgoers and where the high-flying trapeze and steam-powered machines create the backdrop for elegantly dressed ballgoers waltzing their way from absinthe to the dance floor. All are invited to return to a time of well-dressed gentility by creating characters and costumes for the occasion – instilling a madhouse slapdashery of dress by nearly every single attendee.
