Description
From west Africa, tonight's performance feature's traditional music of the Madinka people as it finds new influences from contemporary forms. While West African percussion and dance has become increasing popular and familiar throughout the states over recent decades, the rich legacy of stringed instruments from the continent remain widely unknown. For this unique performance, Temomo, of Guinea, brings us the music of the "bolon", a stringed gourd instrument, relative of the kora and ngoni. He will be accompanied by bass and saxaphone.More Info
