Taste of the Fields

On September 25th the Live Earth Farm Discovery Program (LEFDP) will host its second fundraiser, Taste of the Fields: Wine and Hors d’oeuvres on the Farm. The event will feature a tour of seven wine and hors d’oeuvres stations in the enchanting fields of Live Earth Farm.

The event will bring together local chefs, wineries, artisans and farmers to who will share their art by explaining the alchemy of transforming seeds into food and wine.

* Local Producers: Live Earth Farm, TLC Ranch, Companion Bakers, Summer Meadows Farm, Alfaro Family Winery, Chronic Cellars, Peachy Canyon, Storrs Winery, and Savannah Chanelle Vineyards.
* Local Chefs: Loren Ozaki and Erin Justus of The Butcher, The Baker, The Wedding Cake Maker, Rebecca Mastoris and Karen Haralson of Vibrant Foods Catering, and Jordan Champagne of Happy Girl Kitchen.
* Wine and hors d’oeuvres Farm Tour: Led by founder and owner of Live Earth Farm, Thomas Broz.
* Music, Silent Auction and LEFDP presentation: featuring Groove Grass and Ashley Lloyd.

In 2009, LEFDP welcomed over 800 children from public and private schools, charter schools, home schools and summer programs to participate in our hands-on educational programs focused on local, organic and sustainable food systems. Thanks to your support, a growing percentage of those children came from the Watsonville area, 23% up from 13% in 2008.

Your support will help LEFDP bring a greater percentage of local Watsonville public school students to the farm regardless of ability to pay for their tour.
