Description

Discover Tanzania with MTS expert guide Wes Krause, presenting a slideshow and personal experiences from decades of climbing Kilimanjaro and walking the Serengeti.

Ever wondered what it's like to stand at Kilimanjaro's 19,341-foot peak? Ever thought about an epic foot safari deep in the wilds of Africa?

Hiking in the Serengeti isn’t about covering a lot of ground, it’s about really experiencing Africa up close and personal, reveling in the smaller sights, smells, and feelings that are missed from a car: finding a lion’s paw print in the damp ground, watching a dung beetle laboriously rolling a ball of dung uphill, or smelling a herd of elephants before you spot them in the valley below.

Come experience the essence of Tanzania with MTS expert guide Wes Krause, and take a quick journey to Africa through his stories and photos.

Wes Krause began his love of the outdoors in the rock & ice climbing community of the Western United States in the 70’s. He then graduated on to high altitude climbing in Alaska and the Himalayas. He was Climbing Leader of the 1987 American Everest North Face Expedition. Wes came to East Africa in the early 80’s and soon made the 2nd successful climb of the Breach Icicle on Kilimanjaro with Scott Fischer. He has been pioneering routes up Kilimanjaro, leading MTS trips, and researching new walking safaris and mountain biking in the bush ever since.

Admission is free, with light refreshments provided. Please RSVP to [email protected]. Program starts at 7 PM.
