International contemporary art sensation Takashi Murakami has defined a culture through his art. Native to Tokyo, Japan, Murakami combines the Japanese artistic culture of flat surfaces, bold outlines, texturized, patterned surfaces and lack of spatial perspective with the otaku culture of computerized cuteness with a twist of bawdy suggestion to create works with the conception of a new dimension described as “superflat”. Murakami founded the Superflat artistic movement which was brought on by the stylistics of “poku”, a combination of pop art and the emerging otaku culture in Japan. Murakami has reinvigorated the production and reception of art by blurring the boundaries between the world of fine arts and the world of commercialism. Featuring over 20 works from the last decade-- come explore the imaginative, exuberant, and otherworldly collection of lithographic prints.
