Celebrate the wake of SF Gay Pride Weekend with one of the most prominent female figures on Russian music scene - Svetlana Surganova, a former singer/violinist from girl-girl duo "Night Snipers". Surganova writes most of her own songs, and occasionally sets to music the poetry of Brodsky and Lorca. The results are poignant tales of soul-searching and self-discovery, enigmatic and beautiful. Her music as an upbeat fusion of jazz and rock and urban romance and that certain something reckless and Russian that only guitars, sax, violins, French accordion and Latin percussion can express.When playing live, the band's emphasis is always on crisp, clear sound you can dance yourself to the end of night. Although the concerts are billed as Unplugged, expect, nonetheless, hi-energy performances of songs from Surganova's feminine and passionate extensive discography. Our bay-area own Nadia Moon will open up for the event.
