Description

Susan Reverby, Ph.D., Professor of Women's and Gender Studies, Wellesley College

On October 1, 2010, the U.S. president and the secretaries of State and Health & Human Services apologized to the Guatemalan government for inoculation syphilis studies done by the U.S. Public Health Service in 1946-48. Reverby uncovered the unpublished studies while doing research for her book on the infamous Tuskegee Syphilis Study. She will discuss her findings, what has happened since the apology, and why it matters.
