Chunky beats, fat bass, smooth keys, spicy guitar licks and choice horn cuts make this hearty group of all-star Sonoma county musicians a four course meal of jazz, funk, soul, hip hop and break beat jams for the soul! Sunday Gravy is not only an event, a band, it’s an experience! Every show is different with a rotating crew of players, representing the very top players in Sonoma County jamming on funk, soul classics from the likes of The Meters, James Brown, Maceo Parker, P-Funk and jazzy improvised grooves. The core line up is Gabriel "G-FUNK" McDowell on drums (of the 808 band) Nate Prowse on keys, Luis Garcia on bass, Nick Simmons on guitar, with frequent guests Brendan Buss on alto saxophone, Nick Hasty on tenor saxophone, Josh Fossgreen on bass, Ian Schere on guitar. The band takes listeners on an instrumental journey through the depths of the funk with a solid break beat foundation, and takes them off the ground and into space with their far out jazz-based jams. The perfect recipe to satisfy anyone's craving for funky break beats, smooth jazz licks, raw funk jams and way out improvisation.
