Description
Hailing from Sacramento and Oakland, Sun Valley Gun Club distill 50 years of rock into one cohesive, fuzzy sound. They meander through tracks following the tones and loopy patterns of '60s psychedelia, while mixing in some jagged edges and grungy guitars. Their lyrics sway with a slacker's self-reflection, then burst into growly exaltations-reminiscent of turn-of-the-century indie icons, like Built to Spill and Pavement. The group recently released their self-titled sophomore record in March. The album's lead single, "Hey Collapser," features an existentialist collage of modern mundanity and an effortless earworm of a hook. (JF)
