The United Way of Santa Cruz County and the Santa Cruz County Office of Education's backpack project will be collecting new backpacks and school supplies to donate to local homeless and low-income students. There are more than 3,000 homeless students in Santa Cruz County and more than 14,000 students in need. Please help us reach our goal of outfitting 4,000 students with the supplies they will need to start the year off right. Stop by and drop off backpacks (no blue or red), binders, pencils, rulers, crayons, pens, calculators, colored pencils or Spanish/English dictionaries.To find out more about the event, ways to volunteer or places to donate before and after the event, visit us online at http://www.unitedwaysc.org
