Description

The organization Students First along with the California Mayors Education Roundtable will be hosting a discussion with parents, educators & community leaders in San Jose on Thursday to discuss ideas for improving California schools.

"The event will be the fifth in a series of conversations with California residents in which attendees have discussed the problems facing their schools and have put forward commonsense solutions to make them better. Concerns have included lagging student achievement and inequities in our education system. Many attendees have called for a greater focus on effective teaching and a greater emphasis on policies that put kids' needs ahead of any other interests.

StudentsFirst Founder and CEO Michelle Rhee will be among those on hand for the San Jose discussion, along with San Jose Mayor Chuck Reed and Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson, who chairs the California Mayors Education Roundtable.

The event is free and open to the public. Space is limited, however, so we are asking members of the public who would like to attend to please rsvp here: http://www.studentsfirst.org/rsvp-san-jose-mar-22"
